Kassel has a unique charm, and this hotel gives a decent base for exploring the area, albeit with some caveats. I stayed in a large suite, which was a nice surprise—spacious with three balconies, and the flat-screen TV offered some comfort after a long day. The room's cleanliness left much to be desired, with dust lingering under the bed and a pervasive mildew smell. While there's a convenient 12-minute walk to the heart of Kassel, I felt the hotel missed the mark on a few luxury aspects. The lack of air conditioning and safe adds points against comfort. On the upside, the breakfast area is bright and spacious, serving a traditional German buffet that sets you up well for adventures—though be wary of timing, as availability is limited. Ultimately, this hotel balances value and amenities reasonably well for its location, but it's not quite five-star. For the price, being aware of these shortcomings can help set expectations straight.
